I don't think it will happen I have looked it up and stuff anyways; If the world were to end I dont think i would really care in fact i think the though of everyone dying at the same time isnt so bad since its something thats happing to everyone that would take away some/most of the impact!
It's NOT going to happen.
As I've explained clearly to my kids the church have been saying these things ever since I was a kid. And always a year or two in the future ironically!! They just want you to go to church and believe their lies.
As for the world ending one day, yes it will. Off the top of my head I think its in 6Billion years time!

I don't really care. I mean, I don't want people to die but if it does happen, it'll happen. You can't really do much about it so it's normal to feel 'meh, whatever'.
It might happen soon (like, I don't know, twenty centuries later or something which is ages away) but I doubt it would happen next year. It's just a bunch of crazy people interpreting the Bible wrong and depending on it way too much.
It seriously concerns me that people want to entertain this fantasy.
Do you know that we can see if large meteors (enough to destroy life on Earth) are going to come anywhere near the Earth WAY before hand? ie If one was coming then about one of the Millions of sky gazes probably would have said something by now. But nope, nothing.
What about the health of the Earth you say? All good, the world is still alive and healthy even when it is going to be wiped out about 6 Billion years time.
Any other reason the Earth may stop all life?
Nothing, absolutely nothing. It didn't stop when the church got really worried in the 70's and stated the same thing. It didn't stop in the 80's or 90's either. Not even on the year 2000 OH that one was a big hype, second coming of jesus and all christians will only be saved!! Oh that made me laugh.
Church use FEAR as the No.1 persuasive argument. But you need to be a little weak minded too. Generally these scare tactics are pointed abusively at innocent children (I'm starting to think a lot of members here are kids).
As parents we need to protect our children from these unfounded fears that commonly (well always) come from the church (and religious beliefs) Christians are not all going to be 'saved' and the rest of the world population to burn forever (OMG! Cruelest god ever!). This is just pure absolute rubbish.
A quick note about the future though. When 2012 comes and goes and all are ok still, and the church all say Oh we didn't say that, that was the 'other' lot (yes I've heard this numerous times) Be fully aware that the NEXT time this is inevitably brought up, that you tell all the children, same old church fear church lies, don't bother waiting for the next couple of years to prove them wrong then. They (all churches) are totally wrong now.
I welcome the end of the planet. Whether it ends or not, I think something amazing is going to happen that day.
I'd rather all of us go than have to bury my family or vice versa.

That said, it might depend on how old you are. I haven't had a chance to live a real life yet, so maybe I think differently. But really, +90% don't mind?!
