Is it normal i don't know what direction i want my career at 22?

I got a degree in education and I am worried I will never be able to afford marriage or family (I'm a guy). I am debating whether I should continue teaching or move into another field. I like teaching because I like working with the kids, but it's so stressful, so many hours, and low pay for the amount of work put into it. But, I could see myself in other jobs outside of education, even though they probably won't be as rewarding but I would still be happy to an extent. I even had a teacher tell me, "You shouldn't go into teaching. Men shouldn't be teachers because it's not fair to their families. Why don't you go apply at Wendys and work your way up through management?" Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I hope your kidding about what the teacher said, cause that's just stupid.
My father worked in teaching all his life. He worked hard, earned a master's for a promotion, and saved his money. My life was nice, though I didn't have cable, video games, lots of trendy clothes, or vacations to exotic locals. Lots of money is not everything, a good homelife and loving parents is enough.

You can make a good living teaching, but you have to work year long just like other working people, yes it's not great money, but it is clean healthy work that has its own rewards almost daily. Good luck with your choices

I was switching majors at that age. Try doing what you enjoy. Hating your work is not what you want.

Move to mississippi. You can afford a house on acreage while only earning $10 an hr. And yes we need teachers. Badly!
