Is it normal i don't know how to deal with anxious people?

How do you deal with people who are anxious all the time? There is people who are constantly anxious and its difficult to deal with.

I don't process things like most people so I will sometimes be calmer in certain situations sometimes more than I should be. How do you end conversations with these people and how do you calm them down when they start becoming flustered.

I know I am suppose to be calm but I am starting to lose my ability to deal with these sort of situations. What should I do? I am very bad at calming people down. I will explain it rationally but that usually just makes people angry. How do you calm down people when they are angry/panicking?

  • Given I suffer with anxiety, the best thing to do is to just listen. And trust me, at least for me, the best thing to do is to keep calm. If someone starts to get angry, it just makes me worse or makes me get angry because I'm already upset and can't deal with it.

You could always try looking up how to cope when someone has anxiety, I'm sure there will be something on the net about it somewhere. But another important point is to not blame the person, I'm not saying you do or don't but in my experience, after a freak out, I already feel incredibly bad and ashamed.

    Good luck. :)

I usually say nothing and let them have their way with my uncomfortable presence. I let them cry, yell or whatever they must do while I sit quietly, awkwardly waiting for the crazy to pass. If they are the type to clam up, it is all the same - a crazy that must pass.

What if they keep asking you questions - wanting reassurance?

Well I'm drunk right now, but I'll try my best...beat their fucking ass!(I'm just kidding of course). If they keep asking questions, answer them the best you can. If you don't know, tell them you can't even begin to relate to them and you don't know how they can possibly handle it. They must be so strong... but umm yeah, I'll double check tomorrow...

Honestly? I almost ONLY attract depressed/broken people and at times it's so frustrating that I don't know where to start!

I currently have one friend who's depressed and can't barely stand to leave her home- Fun ...

Another friend who's soo sensitive and takes so many things as direct insults and I can't hang around her much without wanting to puke, she's moving closer to me now though which is both AWESOME since she is a really incredible person in spite of this BUT I also have to have the talk with her and tell her that I'm not going to walk on glass around her ...

Then I have a bunch of people on the internet and in my past >>

To answer your question: As long as the person doesn't lash out at ME I'm usually cool with it and would do my best to help him or her out. I'm truly a very caring person as long as I'm not being treated badly.

The way I see it is that people who appear anxious are just venting their negative emotions. I never really *want* to be calmed down if I'm in that state because it's important not to bottle anything up. I think you just have to weather their storm and accept that it's probably a lot more unpleasant for them than it is for you.

How do you deal with panicky/ worried people?
If person is male - Shout "Shut up and listen!" And explain what's what and tell them to man up and sort out the problem!
If person is female - run away! You have failed before even starting. You try to calm her down, she attacks you. You walk away - she attacks you! That's for most girls anyway... A good calm talk can work too, but only 10% of the times XD
