Is it normal i'd rather die than have needed surgery?

I was supposed to have heart surgery 3 years ago but do to scheduling issues at the hospital I never had it done. Obviously I'm older now and am sure my condition has gotten worse. I have no desire to either go to my cardiologist to check the state of my hearts deterioration or to even entertain the idea of surgery now or in the future. Is it normal that I don't want surgery to correct something that's going to kill me?

    This depends, do you want to die or just too lazy or too afraid to have surgery? I guess its still not normal either way.

    oh rjarias, I hope everything worked out ok for you....

    I'm having cervical neck issues, and am getting increasingly desperate
    I sometimes also think I'd rather die than have neck surgery
    I have two kids and a family and you can't die from cervical neck issues anyways... just suffer
    I"m sure I'm a weakling and people out there are dealing with much tougher stuff...
    But I really don't have capacity for more

    I am in a similar situation.Just turn 45 (people say I look younger) I am athletic and active.Just told I have SEVERE heart valve damage.
    I've been suicidal a number of times.Single ,no wife ,no kids ( however I've lived twice with girlfriends)
    But way too lonely in the last 7 years I might as well die.
    Women DON'T like me (Only as a friend)
    Valve heart surgery is not like appendicitis (where you are 100% normal after it)
    Valve surgeries are complicated and lots of risks and suffering involved
    I am sure life after death is MUCH BETTER
    So I am REFUSING to have surgery
    I am ready to die
    sO LONG lovely world !
    More afraid of living with surgery suffering than dying

    It may be "normal" but i think you shoudnt put it off. Life is about risks and you should have the surgery if you need it. Dont be a coward.

    I guess you have found a simple way to commit suicide. No action on your part will surly lead to your desired results. Congratulations. Just fill out an organ donor card so that others may benefit from your choice.

    My dad had heart surgery. And one year later he died just like the doctor said. But he was 73, How old r u?
