Is it normal i couldn't buy fridge magnets

So I go to the store and ask to see their range of fridge magnets. Two men come out from around the back and stand there in front of me. Then the salesmen introduces them as Mr. Haier and Mr. Smeg. I still have no idea what was going on but I left without making a purchase.
