Is it normal i can't say i love you to my friends?

All of my friends say they love each other. The term is used really loosely but I really can't say it too them. It's really awkward when they say it to me because I don't say it back! What should I do? Any ideas. Does anyone else feel like this? Am I just really pathetic or something. I have a feeling if I said it I would choke up because I feel I can only say it someone I truly love (romantically) is it normal ???

Romantic love, and love the way you love family and friends is too different things. Do you tell your parents you love them.

I love everybody, just not in a romantic sense.

    I even love you! lolz

It has never been something we say in my group of friends, but I wouldn't worry about if if I were in your position. My advice is to just get over it and just say it because it's not a big thing and you not saying it back is making it into a big thing. Surely, by not saying "I love you" back would create more awkwardness and an atmosphere. Like I said, it's not a big thing and love isn't just about romantic love. Love just means that you care about someone a lot, and if they are your true friends I would assume you cared about them a lot and would like to show them how much you care to make them feel good about themselves! So suck it up and say it, or be lonely forever.

i was wondering if you are a male or a female. don't answer if you don't want to, of course.

i just say "thank you" or grab their hand or give em a pat or a hug if i don't feel like saying it. some of my people did become like a little family to me so it's easy to say it with them because i mean it. but like the captain said, there are many types of love. the least of these is the love that would make you save someone from, say , drowning if it wasn't too much trouble or any danger to yourself. that's a type of love too. but i don't go around saying i love you to those people unless i've eaten something funny.

I have a hard time saying it too. I hate saying it to my family and some of my friends. The rare times that I do say it, I hope that people don't misunderstand my words.

You can say things like: "I like you too." Or "I feel the same."

It avoids having to say "I love you."

I'm the same way, It's very hard for me to say I love you to anyone. Even my own family. I think you should just tell them that it makes you uncomfortable. It's no big deal, they'll probably understand.

Are you sure they're not doing the friendship test on you?

Just say it back in the monotonous uninspired way that it was first said to you. Everyone does it.

I say "I love you too" if I mean it. You don't always have to say it back, but you need to watch out and be careful. You don't want to make them feel like you don't love them at all nor appreciate their friendship.

Try to give them a hug or tell them that it's hard for you to say "I love you" even when you mean it.
