Is it normal i can't quit smoking

I've been smoking since I was about 15 years old (20 now) I have tried to quit smoking on numerous occasions but always start back for one reason...STRESS!!!!- anytime I have a problem I just reach for a smoke and it calms me. I really, really want to quit but medication isn't an option. Is there anyone on here who has quit and found a way to cope with stress without a cigarette in your hand? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks

Think about speaking through a noise-maker in your neck and wiping up the spittle that runs down.
How about carrying an oxygen tank everywhere you go.
I know people in both scenarios and it's not pretty.
Just quit for god's sake and get on with your life.
I used to smoke and I quit 10 yrs. ago so you can too.

Believe it or not, especially if you did this earlier in life, sucking your thumb absolutely reduces your cravings.

Try Allen carr's book. It deals with the psychology of nicotine addiction. Also if you do feel yourself stressed when trying to quit, set up some tatics to deal with the stress triggers. e.g Give yourself a time out and take a breather. Enter the situation with a new calm and collective manner.

Researching helps alot too! Know your enemy!

It's normal to not be able to stop. Nicotine is 100 times more addictive than heroin. My mom used pills to stop- and hasn't smoked in over 2 years (she smoked for more than 20 years before quitting). My grandmother, on the other hand, quit cold turkey, as they say. What I would tell you to do is to look into electronic cigarettes. They are the same size, and you smoke them the same way, but instead of harmful tobacco and chemicals, you are inhaling vapors like an inhaler. There is a little nicotine cartridge (which comes in MANY flavors) that goes into the end of the e-cigarettes, and when you inhale, you get vapors instead of harmful smoke.

It's a healthier option on the way to quitting all together. I use them, and have been able to breathe SO MUCH better since. It's amazing. Not only that, but I don't feel the need to smoke as much as I use to.

Not only that, but you can smoke electronic cigarettes ANYWHERE, even if the place is non-smoking. They are safe around children, pets, and other humans in general. All together a much healthier, safer option than smoking tobacco. They can be somewhat pricey, so keep that in mind, BUT each electronic cigarettes lasts long enough to equal MORE than one pack of normal cigarettes. Check them out, you won't be disappointed! Try looking up Electronic Cigarettes Inc. =)

Ummm no? Because you arnt just smoking tobacco.... You are inhaling all sorta of other shit. Tobacco wouldn't actually be that bad if it wasn't laced with all sorts of shit. It's only like that so the government can make money.... Ever wonder why it's illegal to grow your own tobacco plant but you van buy it no probs ( 100 times worse quality ) as long as the man is making a profit. The herbs I'm talking about are all natural, no additive, no chemicals, just a natural plant picked from the earth and dried out.

Suck that cancer stick. Have fun with lung cancer later. That alone motivates me to not smoke.

Hypnosis helped me temporarily but it wears off. Allen Carr's stop smoking book has helped loads of my friends but didn't work on me. In the end, I came up with my own solution.

I needed to replace the ritual of lighting up, needed to do something with my hands and mouth, and needed the kick of a little treat.

I went with making fresh home-made lemonade whenever I had a craving (and was at home). Worked for me!

Legal herbs can help. You can roll them up and smoke them to help you with the act and urge to smoke. And some of them give you a slight high. If you are in Australia then check out a " happy high herbs " shop or even just go to there wedsite. I'm not sure what the equivalent to HHH is in other countries but im sure others exist. They are great spin as well. And alot of them help with numerous other health issues. Plus none addictive!! Maybe ween yourself off tobacco ( or rather nicotine) by cutting down on your intake a little everyday. Or alternatively everytime you feel stressed instead of smoking go to a gym or for a run... Do 10 push ups. Something that releases the endorphins you are looking for. Do all three maybe? Good luck buddy, I hear quitting smoking is harder than quitting anything else.

Surely rolling up and smoking legal herbs is just as dangerous as smoking tobacco?
