Is it normal i can't decide whether my eyes are green or blue?

For a while it's troubled me that I can't work out my eye colour. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I think they're blue, other times I think they're green. So I started saying that they were blue-green or turquoise to which I would get one of two responses "No they're definitely blue" or "No they're definitely green".

I'm really confused, I'm sure my eyes don't change colour so why do people's (and my own) perception of their colour change?

    Only 2% of the worlds population is green eyed.

    Many people with green eyes have "chameleon eyes", or eyes that change color.

    Other eye colours can't change drastically, nor become green at all. So if you ever see green then they're green.

    I myself am one of the rare individuals with green eyes, they become gray and blue with negative mood changes.

      My husband has green eyes but they don't change color, they stay very green all of the time =/

        Be careful lol, they say pale blue eyes hide insanity and behind green hides a con man.

        But yeah some don't change, mine don't often either just when i'm really angry or annoyed. They turn the colour of cement.

        Hilarious fact,

        Centuries ago they used to think green eyed people were possessed by serpents, and treated them with great caution.

              I know this girl and she's a total cow..she has brown eyes.

              But I'm a nice person and I've got them =) What do they say about people with hazel, grey and black eyes?

          Hahaha, my husband is a writer, if that says anything about his capacity to weave tales. Maybe what they say isn't totally incorrect. I'll have to tell him that XD

    My friend is like you - her eyes are bluey on the outside and green on the inside, it's really weird but cool!

    lol I used to be confused about what colour mine were too. They started out very blue, then went grey-blue, then green-blue-hazel, now they've settled on green. Eyes change colour during childhood and teenage years and even in early twenties. My eyes settled on green when I was about 20/21. Different lighting will give the illusion of a colour change, I guess. I think all eye colours have their appeal : )

    I once asked this to an Optometrist when I got my glasses and he told me that eye color, especially colors as light as ours is, actually DOES change in shade. This can be due to lighting, comparison of color (wearing brown or black eye makeup with make my eyes look blue but green eye makeup makes them look green) or to blood flow (similar to how the blood flow in your face can make it seem either really pale of really red, he said that this is why it IS possible for eye color to change due to mood as increased or decreased blood flow can change the shade of the iris slightly).

    That sounds really pretty. It sounds like some people call the color blue, other's green.

    Mine are the same. Depends on what I'm wearing and they get very turquoise when I cry.

      Hey, I actually think mine look a bit different if I cry too... think it's the effect of that very attractive bloodshot look! The redness makes them look different in contrast.

        Ha! My eyes don't get red unless I've been crying for a very long time. I was talking about crying just a couple of tears. They turn turquoise. Actually wish they would stay that color.

    Mixed colors or color that changes by mood or what you wear are usually called hazel . My niece has blue in her eyes that only shows up in photos .

    Loads of peoples eye colour change slightly. Mine are normally a blue-grey colour but have been grey, dark blue, light blue, green and brown. It's normal.

    My brother's eyes are like this. I actually don't know what color he claims them to be, probably blue. They are this weird marbled blue and green. I would never call it blue-green as they are clearly both colors. Depending on what he is wearing one color will stand out more than others, so usually blue.

    Maybe they do change a little. Mine do. I swear I see some blue in them once in a while. They are grey sometimes too but I just always say they are green, because they usually are.
