Is it normal i can control my own heart beat?

Ever since i can remember i have been able to either slow my heart beat or make i go faster. I have freaked many people out by showing them this weird thing i can do. I just really really concentrate on my heart rate, every beat, and i can make it go to the beat i am thinking in my head. If im thinking about it going slower, it will, exactly how i thought it. And if i think its beating to slow, i concentrate about it going a little faster and it goes exactly how fast i was thinking. Along with the beat in my head(which is a normal heart beat just either faster or slower than it was going before). I dont want you all to think i can make my heart to dubstep beats or anything lol just make it do as i have explained. IS this normal? I have read into controlling chackras(i think i spelling that wrong). is this what i am doing? And is it normal to know how to do this with out ever being told how? To just naturally know how to? And btw its not in my head, i have had MANY friends verify this thing i do! :)

sounds like you have a really strong heart, which is a good thing. there a magicians who work hella long to be able to do this. a lot of extreme athletes can do this as well.... but i would still check with a doctor just in case your are a superhuman

I know its weird or else incredibly awesome,,but i too can control my heart rate at will without performing any kind of physical activity or change in breathing pattern. Not only that, I can also voluntarily produce nystagmus. I am apatient of anxiety disorder.perhaps,, there is some sort of link between the two.. i mean having a hypersensitive sympathetic system and the above mentioned strange or at least rare abilities.

None of your respondents actually "get it." I have had this ability too; it also corresponds with pupil control and an odd change to the sweat emitted. Your heart rate remains a normal sinus rhythm up to 180bpm easily. There is no corresponding respiratory effort. It is sympathetic. It is instantaneous, with mere thought. It is limited, and you tire within minutes, resulting in an endorphin high. I've been in the medical community for decades and no one has been able to explain it. It is not meditative, or an acquired skill. I continue to revisit the net looking for an explanation, or how it can aid or harm me. But at 49 it has yet to harm me. Good look. Be careful you don't stroke out.

  • Perhaps its not your mind that is controlling your heart rate, it is the drugs tricking you into thinking that your mind is controlling your heart rate and really its just the drugs controlling your heart rate.

I haven't had anyone verify mine, but yes, I think it's normal. Currently, my task is trying to get myself to stop feeling the beat while lying down. Trying to fall asleep can be bothersome when all you feel is that just-light-enough-to-irk-you tapping going through your body.

  • It's a fact that marksmen and snipers are able to slow their heartbeat during long range shooting..so yeah it's normal.

Sounds like a type of mediation like how monks can control body heat. You should train your ability to it's highest level! Be careful you don't accidentally kill yourself.
