Is it normal i am shocked glasses became cool ?

Ok I do not understand how glasses became a fad poeple who wore glasses were made fun of for years , but now at these little stores like hotopic and at the mall they are selling fake ones and all these kids who dont need glasses are running around pretending they were glasses and its not the individually shaped glasses like poeple who actually wear glasses would prefer its the Coke bottle glasses that poeple always dreaded . I am not saying its necessarily bad but Im sure poeple who wear glasses do not like the fact they need them or are so blind they have to wear something to adjust their vision . I dont know i find this odd and kindve dumb I mean what if people were running around with hearing aids does this not seem odd to you " ? OO

      Yeah - since when were they uncool? John Lennon, Roy Orbison, Elton John, Buddy Holly - just a few that leap to mind. Others wore sun glasses out of envy. It was the people who laughed at glasses that were uncool.

      I beg to differ . I knew children in kindergarden and middle school and they were always luaghed at for it they were always deemed uncool until highschool for the most becuase for some reason everyone is blind in highschool I do not understand why thier is so many more kids with eye issues in highschool and up but thier usually is but in middle school and elementary it was always laughed at and cosidered stupid now everyone is wearing them which is bizarre . they have middle school and highschool kids walking around with fake glasses becuase it is cool ? I never thought I would see the say that became a fad .

        Yeah, that's true.
        I didn't start wearing glasses 'til middle school though. My vision was great until 8th grade and my eyesight started very slowly deteriorating afterwards.

    I like the way those hipster glasses look on girls, though. I realize that it's ridiculous -to wear glasses just as a fad, but can't help it. looks good.

      Yeah thats true. You see serial killers in court/interviews always wearing those thick black frames to appear less threatening and more intelligent.

      Are you kidding I thought they just happened to wear glasses and if anything when your being convicted to murder I dont think you want to be considered smart becuase that means your a better liar , and your more able get away with the crime ? wouldnt that be convicting themselves more I know jefrey doumber wore big coke bottle glasses . I kindve thought it made him look more scary but he already looked kindve creepy .

    I wear glasses, have alwasy worn glasses since the sixth grade (about 9 years ago), and I've never worn contacts.I was never made fun of for wearing glasses.

    ... The glasses fad is just a fad, and it'll go away soon, like all others. It doesn't bother me.

      I just find it odd how something that useta be laughed at is now cool . I also think its retarded to watch these nerds with fake glasses go to someone who has a prescription pair and sayd hey you should get them . I find it humuroies .

    Being a nerd/hipster is especially in these days. Not that either necessarily has to wear glasses but its the image. I like a person regardless of glasses/no glasses its not like you cant tell if they are attractive or not!

    i always wanted glasses as a kid, but i had perfect vision. i have those cosmetic frames now. i wish they'd make some inexpensive wire framed ones though.

    In my opinion, glasses -for fashion use- will never go away. They will just change in shapes and sizes to conform to the current styles and trends.

    15 years ago I thought glasses were cool, and i would stare into the sun for long periods of time to try to make my vision bad enough so that i could get glasses. now that my vision is slightly worse than 20/20 i only wear my glasses to drive legally, and in class when the teachers uses small words on the board.

      yes .. that was the standard now they are selling coke bottle glasses that are just glass anyone could look outve and poeple consider that cool poeple who wear glasses stear away from those big old things cuase thier nerdy now thier the " It " thing .

    Things change. Sometimes for the better and vice versa. I've been wearing glasses since about the early 2000's when I had a "accident" in 1st grade. When I got them, I was worried about being teased. Then when I got older, older kids would call me "four eyes" & "freak". It's unbelievable how immature people can be! Now that I'm older, it's like people no longer mind or have just gotten used to me.

    I'm glad that glasses are making a comeback. I was getting tried of the contact craze and people trying to guilt trip me into buying them. Apparently, the "retro" styles are coming back:) However, I don't see the point of people wearing glasses if they really don't need them. It's a bit silly.
