Is it normal i am caucasian, but i love rap?

I don't mean to be racist, but I am white and rap is my favorite genre. All my friends (Both Black and White) playfully mock me, but I listen to almost nothing but that.

This may have been strange about 15 years ago, but now it's certainly not.

Perhaps you live in a sheltered neighbourhood or something.

I love Hip Hop. Personal favourites:
Nas, EL-P, Oxmo Puccino, De La Soul, Atmosphere, J Cole, Aim, OFWGKTA, Beastie Boys.

It's no longer 'black music', despite its origins. Blues, Jazz and Rock were all started by black people but are now colourless, and I'd say Hip Hop has similarly become part of everybody's culture. It's just another musical form of expression. Nothing weird at all about a white person loving Hip Hop! What's weird is that you don't know how normal it is!

Seriously. I can't believe music is still seen as having a race in 2013.

Not normal, not because you're white but because rap sucks.

I had no idea that music genres were sectioned off for only people of certain ethnicities. *Sarcasm*

Yes, this is completely normal. The reason why people would question this is because no matter what, black people are identified as the group bringing rap to the table the most and perhaps that is true. The problem though is that current rap that ends up advertised on TV and the radio is the most degrading, "I'm the best and eff everyone else" bull I've ever heard which is a shame because all rap is not like that. But since its what is popularly advertised then people go assuming that is all rap is and think its bad. I find rap with meaningful lyrics to be very relaxing and "cool" to listen to, something that can make you feel good about yourself.

Now if you'll excuse me , Samurai Champloo-"Battlecry" and Sonic Adventure 2-"Aquatic Mine" are calling my name.

You don't have to be white to like rap. That's foolishness.

I'm from a white middle class family but many people say I have a slightly posh accent and I'm a macklemore fan and a Huge Kanye West fan (even though he's a prick)

Hmm. There's nothing too unusual about that. Usually i thought white people were made fun of when they try to emulate rap culture by the way they talk act or dress, you sure they aren't teasing you about that too?
