Is it normal i am 19 and want to leave modern society

I have had the idea in my head to live a life away from modern society..in some way or another for a few years, however today an idea hit me to start a community with people with views similar to mine. my idea would be to have community gardens, livestock, even a small school. Of course this is the first day really thinking about it on a more realistic level. I plan to write out a detailed plan for the community..i just don't see why this couldn't be a reality..is this normal?

Wow, we think very much alike! I've had an idea quite similar to this for years. Never quite got around to even putting it onto paper. If you actually established something like this and it worked out, count me in!

      WHY IN THE MOUNTAINS?

Where it's far away from PEOPLE?! So that way when you go on a murderous rampage, no one will ever know what happened to our bodies!?!?!?!?

      AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

      Normal.

I've thought about almost this exact same thing many times. I have a vision of a community of farmers, our only jobs would be to keep our civilization healthy and happy. Much like it was before consumerism and war ruined humanity.

I know I'm perhaps a month too late, but I'd certainly go for this and help you set it up. It's got to be better than the alternative.

As you strive to keep your community healthy, safe and happy you would develop jobs for natrupaths that would turn to doctors.. Patrolmen that would turn to soldiers.. And banjo pluckers that would turn into Justin Beiber. As humans we have an uncontrollable urge to develop and push boundaries.

The idea is beautiful but not sustainable in the long term if walled in.

When they were building the Appalachian trail one of the two founders had a very similar vision you should have a read into it :)

You want to rule your own nation? Plenty of third-world nations, ripe for the taking... Just make sure you can organize enough people to your cause. Form a militia and obtain enough weapons and skills to overtake the current government. lol

funny lol i think about this stuff all the time... what about like joining the amish? i mean apart from the religious aspect it's a pretty legit way of life, they live happily without the corrupting influence of modern society, peacefully...

    it's a calming thought

  • I think this a lot as well.. but I'd think you couldn't completely shut yourself off from the outer world. Main reason is, all this global warming shit hitting the fan and so on.
