Is it normal how much my dad dislikes my boyfriend?

My dad thinks I want glasses because "my boyfriend thinks it would be cute," when in reality I have a lot of trouble taking notes in class, he thinks that every moment I have alone with my boyfriend we're having sex, he thinks that basically everything I do is rooted back to him, he thinks that suddenly I'm a smart ass who doesn't appreciate anything -when in reality I treat my parents with more respect than any other sane teenager would- and it's because of my boyfriend. Is it normal for him to have THIS much hatred for a guy he barely even knows?

Dad's are men so they kinda know what men are like and when it comes to daughters expect us to not like any of your boyfriends.

NO man is good enough for our little girl and our father in laws think the same thing about us.

  • It's easier for him to blame your boyfriend for your changing behaviour (growing up) than it is for him to blame you. I know it sucks, but try to see it as him showing love for you.

I think your dad needs to grow up - it sounds like you're being more mature than he is. I know that's not really advice, but that's my opinion.

Yes, this boyfriend is taking his princess away and that is very hard for him! Your BF needs to try harder to win him over

Most dads are prejudiced against boys. Maybe he wouldn't hate him this much if could get a chance to know him better. ( I quote : "a guy he barely even knows")

Try talking your parents into inviting him to share a "manly" activity (barbecue, painting your bedroom in pink...) it might allow your boyfriend to show your dad he is man enough to date you and take care of you.

are you under the age of 18, if so then yes, and it's completely justifiable. i guess your boyfriend is just the exception to the rule.

The above are fine advice. I wish you well sorting this out.
