Is it normal he would ask me to a party with his new girlfriend?

We were never together but he told me many times he wanted to be with me. He then got together with another woman. 3 days later, he had a party and asked me to come. For some reason, I wasn't comfortable meeting her.
Later I found out that she was out of town and didn't know about the party. Why did he ask me?

He asked all the woman he knew to even out the ratio. 3
He wanted to talk to me about his new girlfriend. 4
He wanted me to meet her and thought she would be there. 4
He didn't even think that I would be uncomfortable.. 18

    yeab it's not about the other woman at all. He probably just saw an opportunity to make a move with you. Pretty shady and disrespectful yet normal male behaviour.
