Some of the time my boyfriend and I take turns paying when we go out. But half the time he expects me to pay. Or when we go out he brings enough money for himself and just himself when he invited me out to eat- half the time I wouldn't get anything because I knew he didn't have money for me- now I know to bring extra money all the time. Might he be cheap? For prom I think he's expecting me to pay for our tickets, and I'm a little bothered by it, I mean he did ask me to prom sO shouldn't he pay? If it is not normal how can I let him know nicely?

    Maybe I'm old fashioned, but as a guy, I'd be extremely embarrassed to let the girl pay when going out.

    As friends: each for him-/herself.
    Dating: I'd want to pay for everything, unless she invites me somewhere and covers the cost of her own initiative.
    Prom: I think it's fair for each to pay their own if you're in the same school. You would anyway if you weren't dating.

    I think it's nice if the guy always wants to pay for the girl, but it's also extremely selfish for the girl to automatically expect her guy to pay for her when they go out.

    He is a cheap ass and you really should find someone who will treat you like a queen. Can you imagine being married to this man? You will end up begging for money just to buy groceries, nevermind having any extra for other necessities. There are women right now who are in that situation on my parenting boards and even a friend of mine. I say run girl while you can.
