i agree hes probably joking, but maybe start looking for signs that say hes actually curious.
Yeah guys joke a lot about things like this. Men often tend to be very crude. They will be disgusting, vulgar, racist, sexist, and make all sort of jokes on these matters. Guys dont see it as a big deal they just see it as being guys. Like saying "Bitch get in the kitchen!" does not mean they hate women. Saying "Fuck you African monkey son of a bitch" does not mean they really hate black people. They could even say that to their best black friend and its considered normal. I do not understand why this is common behaviour among men but a lot of times guys just see this as normal etiquette. Guys just think this kind of stuff is funny. He might just think its funny.
He could be joking but the last time I checked supposedly straight males didn't make comments of that nature. It could be that he is as curious as you are.
