Is it normal for your significant other to not text or call in hours

I'm not used to being in a relationship with someone for a while and they say oh i will hit you up later or text you later and then 5 hours later they want to talk to me again. I tried to break up with this person but they won't get it. I also had to text them at 11pm to say something and they asked me why I am upset.

I'm not clingy either I have been in relationship where the person I am dating communicates with me. All I want is for the other person to say "Hey i'm busy and I will talk to you later at night" and not "Hey" after 5 to 8 hours when they are just hanging out with friends.

I dunno, my significant other and I have a routine where we regularly talk two to three times a day on average.

In these modern times only knobheads do not have mobiles. It is so mainstream that even homeless people have access to free smartphones, well at least I have read in America they do. Even at work you can sneak in a ten second text. This person must be trying to ignore you mate. Power texting them will just make the other person avoid you more.

I don't have a smartphone - to be honest I have problems with my large thumbs on the screen of an iPhone, so I gave it up as a bad joke. I hate texting on my old "Nokia style" phone, so I don't as a rule.

As for phone calls, never got into that idle phone chit chat. Put me in the same room and I'll talk the leg off an iron pot, but I just never "got" phone calls.

What concerns me is the "I tried to break up with this person but they won't get it". Tell them it's over, and stop talking to them - what's not to get?
