Is it normal for your neck to hurt when ever you work out your abs?

Idk if im doing them wrong but whenever i do crunches, sits up, any of those main ab workouts it strains my neck then im having more pain in my neck then abs. Im 17 and already really skinny so it wont take that long to get noticable abs if i knew how to actually do them right but everytime i do my neck just hurts. Ive looked up how to do that stuff properly and i keep my neck looking up at the ceiling and different ways but my neck always hurts, is this normal??

Do leg raises, bicycles, planks, and other forms of ab ex. Don't rely on traditional crunches as they lead to back and neck problems and are less efficient.

You're using your neck to lift you off the ground which can be vert dangerous. Pick a spot on the ceiling about two feet down from where your feet rest and do not err take your eyes off that spot when lifting. This helps keep the lift in your abs and not your neck, also go a little slower when you rise as there is no need to jump yourself up. Good luck and be safe.

      This is a good answer

also are you putting your hands behind your head? this my mean you are pulling yourself up by the neck using your arms, obviously not what yourmeant to be doing, its best to either cros your4 arms across your chest or rest your fingers gently on your temple(s) or behind your ears.

also if you want abs i got one word for you - Plank!! do it 3 times a day a minute each time at least (or aslong as you can) and youll have killer abs in no time!!

I believe you may be doing your crunch/ab exercises wrong, but don't come to IIN for a diagnosis, just go and see a doctor man.
