Is it normal for your bf to stop initiating sex because of meds?
He doesn't have the highest libido to begin with, but after he started taking Lexapro, he complete stopped initiating anything and just sort of lays there when I'm doing stuff to him.

Thanks, everybody. Dang, I knew it wasn't all that abnormal, but I wasn't counting on 100%. Now I feel like a dick for over-analyzing it. lol
I guess I didn't understand because the meds don't affect me in quite the same way, and I've taken varying doses of nearly all major psychiatric drugs.
Look..having depression or generalized anxiety disorder is already a pretty big reason for someone to have a low libido. Adding in the meds is surely something to make it worse.
Get your boy in therapy. Maybe have him read Full Catastrophe Living and to start doing some meditation.
The more he can do with therapy and exercise to get out of this depression and anxiety the better off his sex drive will be. I'm not saying to get him off of meds (that's up to a doctor)...but he can work towards it by exercise, therapy, and meditation.
Those 3 things helped me get rid of having panic attacks. I had them bad. Really bad. But I hate taking meds if I don't have to. I asked for my options and just worked really hard and figuring out my issues with a therapist along with working out and I started meditating daily. My life couldn't be better now.
Yes, I was on that one for a while.
It took me like over an hour to get off and sometimes we would have to stop because I would get tired and lose interest.
It definitely can be the meds...SSRI's can do that....however with some people the body adjusts and the sex drive comes back....others ot comes back but not quite as strong...and for some it is fucked up forever..give it about 2-3 months....
most people fall in the category of it comes back ..just not quite as strong...for those you learn to live with it and take a viagra for those special occasions
Some medication are known to lower sex drive. I would talk to the doctor about it.
It's pretty easy to look that stuff up on the internet. Probably a lot quicker and easier than posting this question.
