Is it normal for word's or poems to pop into your head randomly?

This happens to me every so often. Usually I'm just either walking and spaced out not thinking anything in particular and then all of the sudden a sentence would pop into my head or an entire poem. Sometimes if I find them to be really intresting I'll write them down. Anywho is this normal? Has anybody experienced something similar?
Thanks.

Yeah, it happens to me too very often. Sometimes I like to think it's my sub conscious or other type of being in a spiritual type way.kinda like a message/sign that has to reach you somehow. It applies to music/songs that come to me aswell not jus poetry. It's a wonderful trippy feeling ,like a psychedelic trip insight w/ out the trip. I woulda posted something like that but I personally don't care if it would be considered "normal" since it's pretty awesome to me in itself.

  • Yep yep, this happens to me all the time! Although, it only happens when I am emotional in some way or another. I suppose that makes sense. For instance, when I am headbanging to a song I really like, I tend to stop and make up poems in my head about the feeling of being in harmony with sound or things like that =). I love it!

There are times during the day or night where I randomly hear either a name, word, stupid word, or sound. I don't know what causes it but sometimes they are humorous. One time I remember in particular, was one week before my quiz bowl regionals. I randomly heard the name "Lou Gherig". Of course I knew who he was, but I didn't know about his baseball speech before he died. And a question was released asking who said that and it slapped me again, and I felt fuzzy. Another occurrence was last year I randomly heard a persons name, and two months later, this person met me at a football game...

Found your question because it is similar to what I was looking for. My brother-in-law recently passed away, he was from Italy. When I was moving something in the house a random Italian word popped into my head, much like a toaster pops something up. I do not know Italian, I only know how the word sounded in my head so I phonetically typed it into a translator. Turns out it was very meaningful to my sister.

I think it's some type of communication. Since that first word, I have heard 2 more at random times. I've noticed it's usually when I'm relaxed and my mind is restful, meaning I'm not actively thinking about anything.

If anyone else has also experienced this from someone who has passed I would be very curious about your experience and how to increase them or tap into them.

Yeah I think anyone who writes poems does this. You should edit them though
