Is it normal for typos to make someone seem completely unintelligent?
One single typo, misspelling of a words, changes the way I view a commenter. When I do it, it's alright, others... idiots.

Not so much typos, more when people go.......ya dawg fa realz lls homie smh leee goooo taylor gang over errrrrythang.
I was just about to post this! I understand when you are younger but not from older people. Typos I can handle, sentences that make no sense or are poorly constructed, drive me nuts.
misspelling of A WORDS hey.... looks to me that you need to work on your spelling too.....
It does make me think that the typer is subnormal but then I have to remind myself that there are genuinely dyckslectic people out there and a lot of people that arent as obsessive as I am about spelling and grammar. My problem.
It depresses me, more than it makes me mad or judgemental. Just thinking of how the next generation of kids will write is so sad.
I make typos all the time (mostly because I use my iPhone) but I'm an college level English language teacher so it is in no way a reflection of my grasp on the language. Simply a reflection of my laziness in checking before hitting submit.
That being said...I agree with everything you said in this question. I am exactly the same way when I see other people's typos.
what if that person didnt get an education because they were less fortunate and things happened in their life that effected them deeply, if you are judging these people it could be really hurtful!
I'm the same way, so it seems normal to me. Society's view on normal doesn't matter to me.
I too almost always make typos because I type from my iPod touch. Also when I cut out parts of text (or edit sentence) often there are extra parts of word still left (or missing). Also english is not my primary language.
But yes I have to agree, other people's typos make it seem (to me) like they are younger than they perhaps actually are :P
i almost always make typos, especially when i'm on this site with my phone. i just don't care to read over my comments before submitting them.
