Question (short story): Is it normal for two guys to sit so close they're touching? Touching in more places than one?

Reason for question (long story): I'm gay, but in the closet. In my martial arts class I have this buddy of mine (best friend, you could say) who's completely straight. (Or so he says...) but where as his orientation is another story, for now just consider him straight.

So we were sitting down today and he comes up right next to me. It's quite normal for him to sit next to me. We are always next to each other. Always. Today he sat so close to me our legs were touching. Like, there's accidental touch and then there's touching. It felt like his leg was practically on mine.

And he had his arm behind me kind of like it was on my shoulders. It wasn't, but I felt physical contact there. I ask this because he says he's straight!

But would a straight guy do that? As a straight male yourself or as an observing female, is that normal?

      i dnt know, i mean in high school we used to have gay-offs or gay chicken or whatever u want to call it all the time, even more fun if the person ur playing it with doesnt know it XD.
      there were guys (striaght) known to kiss other guys just to win. i dnt know why we did it, maybe we were all idiots hahaha... ahhhh simpler times

      fyi i never kissed a guy, that was my breaking point, i could rub a nipple or grab an ass cheeek or two, but u can keep ur grubby man libs to urself!!! =P

    I swear, the same thing's happened to me!, and I'm gay too... I was with this guy at school, we were sitting next to each other, and he would place his leg on top of mine (I'm way shorter than he is, so it's like his thigh covers my whole leg. Haha exaggerating but still.)

    It felt kinda warm, so I never complain, and he never says anything either.

    i don't think he's gay, since he's always talking about girls and he's kinda homophobic, so i won't get my hopes high, but it's still weird. but it happened so often than i got used to it.
