Is it normal for these shapes to show up at night?
Now, to get this out of the way, I'm not superstitious and I don't believe in ghosts or anything. But something weird seems to be happening in my house. Around two weeks ago, I woke up in the early morning, around 3 A.M., and I went to my kitchen to get a snack. As I approached I thought I could see some shapes moving in the darkness, but I ignored it and thought I was just imagining things. I didn't see anything unusual when I turned the lights on. As I was going through what I had, I heard some weird noises, but wrote them off as the house settling and that I was just on edge. I took how nervous I felt to be all the more reason to think nothing was wrong. I quickly made a sandwich and went back to my room. Two days later, I woke up early and the same things happened, but this time the sights and noises seemed a little more real. This happened two or three more times.
Finally, I decided to check it out. If there really was nothing then it couldn't hurt to be sure. I took three handheld cameras with night vision modes and put them at points in my kitchen to record what happens at night. The next day I checked out the results. One of the cameras had failed, for some reason it didn't work anymore. It wouldn't even turn although the batteries in it were fine and new ones didn't help, and there was nothing on its memory card even though I know I set it to record. It wasn't that old, so I have no idea why. I sent it back under warranty but they told me they wouldn't service it for free because the internal damage appears to have been caused deliberately. Weird, but I decided not to press the issue. I got footage from the other two and I can work with that.
On both of them, nothing unusual happens until about 2 A.M. At that time, an amorphous black blob moves across the view. For the next three hours, black shapes can be sporadically seen moving around, and sometimes more than one is visible at a time. They appear to be between 4 and 5.5 feet tall, varying somewhat. They're just moving, sometimes standing in one spot before moving again. Some of them seem to have fixed protrusions from their tops, analogous to a neck and head. Weirdly, at about 3:45, two of them move up to, stand in front of and block each camera for about a minute. Even this close, no clear detail is visible on them. At almost 4:05, the cameras start getting some strong interference and nothing in the kitchen is visible. When they come back, there are 23 of them visible on one camera and 25 on the other (I've counted), some of them more humanoid than the other figures usually are. They're all still. The cameras then go dark for about ten seconds, and after they come back on the number of figures usually visible at a time is back to normal levels, no more than a few at once. After 5 A.M., the last one visible has gone off screen, none of them show up and nothing else of interest happens.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I think it's just a prank by my friend.
