Is it normal for the youngest child to become jealous of new baby?

So me and my mum are having a discussion about this because my lil sister changed and was very jealous of my baby brother. She was 8 at the time he was born.

I can't believe you and your mother dont know the answer to a common occurrence. Have you mot read a parenting book or any parenting material?

Yeah, that is a common thing with a lot of kids. Many reasons. They may think their parents would love the baby more, or why have another if they have me? The attention. They are not the only child anymore, etc.

Yea. I know some people give the little kids gift from their "newborn brother / sister" so they automatically like them.(:

(even though the gift is really from the parents they just say this if from your new baby bro/sis)
I hope that made sense lol

I was so excited to have a baby brother. I was almost 9 when he was born. But ya,a lot of kids get jelly over the new squishy.

Yes, very normal. In the extreme, sometimes the child will actually hurt the baby, so I would keep an eye open.

I feel like everybody in my family expected me to be that way, but I wasn't.
I have 4 older siblings and they would talk about the centre of attention and gifts falling on the youngest.
