Is it normal for teachers to be so lenient?

Okay, so I'm a sophmore in a public school and recently I've noticed that, despite passing in my projects and homework more often late than not, I'm still getting 100's. I thought it was a mistake and figuring it'd get noticed soon anyway, I told the teacher. She told me that it was fine and gives everyone breaks like that. I don't want to be put in an advanced class next semester just cause my teacher was too kind. Do other people have teachers like that, or is my English teacher just too lazy to care / to nice to give bad grades?

Don't mess up a good thing. There are people doing four hours of homework a night wishing they had your teacher.

I can't tell by the information supplied, but my hunch is that you are either way too hard on yourself or your teacher is just lazy.

I agree with the other poster that you seem bright, so hopefully it is number one.

  • You are obviously bright - and your teacher thinks so too. Why dump on her? Are you afraid to actually make an effort?

    Just had a re-think!
If the school work is just being handed in late, the quality may be still be excellent and that is why you are getting good marks. You may be a very intelligent pupil and she is just ignoring your poor time management.
Having said all that, I don't think I have said anything helpful to you! You are asking if she should not deduct marks for late hand-in. Yes, she should because it is important to be able to manage your time/projects well for future classes.

This is wrong of her and actually quite unhelpful for you.
You should tell her she is wrong to do this. Maybe you could ask other teachers what they think about this-one of them might have a word with her.
