Is it normal for staff of a company to busy fighting among themselves instead of working together to reach a common goal? There's a lot of backstabbing and competition to get ahead and up the corporate ladder, but nothing ever really gets done in the organization. I'm talking about a non-profit organization.

You get that everywhere. I've had to mediate unofficially so many times. I've seen it rise in viciousness to unbelievable degrees. To the point where people have had to be sacked.

They obviously failed to build a team mindset. Competition can be good to fuel a short term goal, but too much breeds contempt, mistrust, and even deceit. Only the highest up in the organization can possibly do anything about it. I'd say get out if you can or else pick a side, hunker down, and hope you survive the storm.

This is normal. In fighting is not uncommon. It helps to ignore the fighting and remain positive and no matter what you do: Stay out of it! It will bring you down.
