Is it normal for someone to drive after having 3 beers?

So I don't drink but my dad does and he compares stoned driving to drunk driving frequently only because he's never smoked weed before in his life. Its sad how he thinks that a few hits or more can "impair" driving (which is a load of bullshit) yet he finds it okay for someone he witness a family member drink 3 beers then go driving minutes after. His thinking is irrational and whenever I drive high, its like I've never been more focused before. This double standard doesn't make any sense!

It really depends on the person's size. I am a large 200+ pound man. If I drink 3 beers over a few hours I am well under the legal limit. If my 95 pound wife drinks the same amount she is over the limit.

Next time I visit the cemetary, you and your dad should come with me. I'll show you the graves of my friend and her mother, killed instantly by a drunken driver on the wrong side of the road. Then I'll take you to see her father, who has never recovered from his loss.

A car is a mobile slaughtering machine that has killed more people than World War II. It's bad enough to drive one sober. But driving one with your reactions impaired? I'd ban you both for life and jail you until you got some sense.

Don't worry about it, I drink, smoke & pop pills before getting behind the wheel. Driving a car is so easy even a monkey can do it! If more people were driving ripped their would be less road rage.

I know someone who would drink a few early, and sleep it off while waiting for his buddies to get done drinking, which was usually several hours. By the time they were done, he was sober again.

He only did this if he was a designated driver, yet still wanted to drink.

No, don't do it,, unless you want a DUI which costs almost 2,000. You will see the consequences of your actions, once you drive into a poll or the police stop you. THINK

You can have 2 drinks in the first hour and 1 drink every hour after that

While it does depend on body mass and alcohol tolerance, the idea that weed impairs driving more than booze is ridiculous. Weed is softcore compared to alcohol, in terms of effect and toxicity.

The statistics speak for themselves. Not one death had ever occurred that has been linked to marijuana, even behind the wheel. The only time marijuana popped up in DUI death was in conjunction with other drugs, mainly alcohol.

No! thats very risky. My dad used to drink beer all day long and then drink beer while driving me and my brother somewhere, so lucky i'm alive.

Driving stoned is not good unless you're a seasoned pot user and you've had a lot of experience with doing practical things while stoned. I'm like that with driving. I can drive on 4 beers if I wanted to, but not on even a single toke.

Smoking does impair your driving. Your just less likely to hurt someone because you are driving so slow and you may not even have the motivation to get in the car in the first place.

    • Anything that you can do sober, you can learn to do just as well baked - it just takes practice. :)
Dr. Andrew Weil even wrote a paper about it.

[Note: I'm not encouraging people to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. It's not a good idea and it's illegal.]
