Is it normal for some very smart people to be very sociable ?

Is it normal for a person to be extremely smart and be extremely sociable ?, usually they say that very smart people are socially awkward , but my cousin is a genuis yet he's really cool and outgoing and has many friends!.I think it's not fair for those who are very smart yet have very poor social skills while others are very smart yet are very sociable.

I wonder how many comments there will be of people talking about how smart and sociable they are..
It depends on the person. Not one person is the same, but I'm sure its common enough to be cobsidered normal.

I don't think there is any correlation between intelligence and social skills. I think people just tend to recognize it more when someone who is smart has poor social skills.

At the same time, if a dumb person lacks social skills, it's not surprising.

  • Yes I am very smart and very sociable. Only because I like to make fun of how unintelligent people are lololol

You're obviously not very smart... making fun of other people is never intelligent no matter because of what you make fun out of them!

I'm kinda intelligent and have somehow good social skills but I just despise being around people and hate the whole humanity...

some smart people seem socially awkward because they don't see the point in small talk and just want to get to what's real. Some of them fail to see the merit in societal rituals that others think are required. get an intelligent person to talk about something they are passionate about and you will see that they aren't devoid of social skills. some of them are just reserved because they are tired of the masses giving them blank stares or making a mockery of their intelligence. most people that were credited as geniuses after their death were labeled as insane while they were alive. the mainstream culture in the united states reminds me of a giant, never ending high school. all you have to do is land every high five perfectly, and realize that when someone says "what's up", they don't want you to actually answer, just say "what's up" in reply.

    Yes it is
Actually smart people have more things to talk about and can be yet very sociable. But when they start correcting everybody they can be very hated by others

I don't know why, exactly, but it really does seem like the smarter a person is the less likely they are to be socially skilled. Of course, 1. I don't think the correlation is all -that- strong, ultimately, 2. Regardless of how strong the correlation is, there are always exceptions.

I do find the whole thing interesting, though.
