  • It's really odd, but I've tried it before. I would suggest not to do it again, but to each their own.

I like to eat the dried chicken breasts. The packaging says its 100% natural, with only two ingredients: premium chicken breast meat and vegetable glycerin. I hope they're not lying.

My name is Elisa and I am doing research for a new cable documentary series. We're interested in where the line between human and animal exists, and we want to tell the stories of anyone who’s life might make you question this. Pet food is one of the topics we're researching.
The concept is very new, and we're just getting started, so I'm just reaching out to people to see if they are interested in chatting about the subject. I'm sorry for messaging you out of the blue like this, I just found you randomly and thought I'd see if you're interested. Please reply if you’d like to talk, thanks!

I have tasted dog/cat food before but I don't chow down on an entire bag whilst watching TV! haha I saw at this pet store once these treats you can get for dogs that humans can eat too. They were made from carob and stuff like that.

I have tried dog treats before. They only sell because the dog can't so or complain. There is no real bacon in them. I don't care what they say.

I wish a company would come out with a snack called Human Treats. I'd buy some.

I dared my friend to do this once... and she said they weren't that bad. She tried a Milk Bone and said it was kinda spicey. Not gonna like, tempted to try one myself.

They're actually not too bad. I once ate a Milk Bone treat, since I was starving and had nothing else to eat.

no, that's why they're called DOG treats, not human treats.

i just checked my own dogs snacks.

one in particular said "not for human consumption"

most of them listed crude protien. i am thinking that's the part of animals humans won't eat.

Crude protein is actually an estimate of the overall protein in the food. However, you're close in what you think most pet snacks are made out of.

If you look at the ingredients of many different brands of feed, you'll see things such as "meat by-products" and "meat meal" listed. This can include parts of animals that are considered unfit for human consumption - head, feet, entrails etc - as well as roadkill, zoo animals, the dying and diseased, and even euthanised pets. All of this is basically ground up together and cooked in vats.

Google it for yourself. Here's one site talking about it: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-industry-exposed/euthanized-pets-dog-food/

I too have fed my dog food and treats made out of questionable stuff in the past, but after looking closely at the ingredients and reading up on it, I try to only buy the best (ie. with edible sounding ingredients.)

It is normal to try once, but i mean, if you keep eating them, its a little strange...They are actually better for you than any other cookie...packed with fiber, and low in sugar, but they are pretty gross...my bf usually will try them before we give them to our dog...I however will not :)
