Is it normal for people to touch girls on the bus

it was my first time on a bus alone and it was pretty late at night so there was only a few people on it and I sat at the back but a man sat next to me even though there was space everywhere on the bus and after awhile he started to touch and squeeze my breasts and even tried to unzip my hoodie. I was too scared to say or do anything so I just let it happen and waited for my stop. Is it normal to not say or tell anyone about it?

I keep a knife in my pants anytime I leave the house. I keep Pepper spray and a taser in my bike.

NO! It's NOT normal and you should report it. Most buses have cameras and they can identify that scumbag and maybe arrest him

What he did was outrageous and completely wrong.

However, I do find your reaction understandable. From the time girls are born, they constantly get messages that a good girl will always try to make people - particularly male people - happy. Good girls don't make a fuss. Good girls smile even when they don't feel like it. Good girls are always kind and considerate of others.

You should have the right to sit wherever you feel like sitting on the bus, but the fact is that there are creepy, horrible guys out there who will assault you if they think they can get away with it. As another responder has said, many busses have cameras on them these days. If you have to ride the bus alone again, at least look out for the cameras and sit close to one. You should also consider sitting closer to the driver.

If something like this should ever happen again, try to find the courage to tell him to stop as loudly as you can. Get away from him if you can do so without coming into closer contact with him. Shove him away if you feel you can do that safely. Definitely make a complaint to the driver as soon as you can, and pursue that with whatever authority or company operates the bus. That won't make what the guy has done to you go away, but it could stop him from doing something much worse to another woman in the future.

Ive never experienced that but thats absolutely awful!
I always sit at the very front in buses by the driver because the creeps tend to hide out in the back and I never take the bus late by myself unless I reeally have to which I almost never do. You should report this scumbag!
I had a bad experience on a bus too with some dude who took my phone out of my hands because I wouldnt talk to him then he added himself to my friendlist. He kept bothering me with a group guys.

Always atleast say stop lol. H8s defense in court would always be "she didnt even ask me to stop. I know this girl. Its consensual. Just look at the video."

Normal? No. Common? Not even close for me. Do I wish it happened more often? You bet. I'm sorry if you didn't like what happened to you. For this mature lady, I really miss that kind of unwanted attention I got in my youth.
