I dated a girl for 7 yrs, starting at 18yo. For years we vowed I'll love you forever. I can't get over how people can go from such intense love and devotion to nothing? She started talking about marriage, but she did not have me in mind. Until she met someone else, then got married 2 years later to her brothers best friend who she said for years she would never be interested in. She's now divorced. Karma...

    I'm going through that right now actually.
    Except, I think I'm to blame.

    I lied to myself, and to my girlfriend since I've known her. I told myself that she was the most special person I've ever known, and that I loved everything about her.

    In reality, I hate just about everything about her, and she is the most normal, uninteresting, rude person.

    All that love I felt for so long, now seems to disappear more and more each day.

    Truth is whether we like it or not, love is not always eternal. Some couples over they years find something new to love, but some decide to ended when teir love fades away. Its hard to get over love, but you need to be strong and move on. Put yourself out there and meet new people, some day you'll find the one and if not always enjoy every day like it were the last.

    howaminotmyself I did become an obsessive ex for a few weeks after she divorced. I talked to her and told me how her husband became very distant and cold. This is excatly what she did to me for a while.

    That means all those years it wasnt love, just lust. People confuse love and lust too much, and infatuation. Real love wouldnt end so abruptly...
