Is it normal for people to carry garbage with them everywhere

I live in Hamilton, Ontario... and every day I see people with garbage bags, shopping carts... they rummage through dumpsters, garbage cans... and seem to find value in trash, not food scraps, but real trash!
Other people walk by my home and spit, blow their nose within a 3 foot square of each other..., These people are all different ones, not the same people!
Is this normal ?... and what are the odds of all these different people doing the same action in the same place, like dogs marking their territory?

    what is normal in this world as long as you arent hurting anyone it can be considered normal just like myself i found your topic by searching garbage bags and i like to wear them so what is normal

    I LIVE IN HAMILTON TOO, rep the 905.

    I come from Buffalo and let me tell you any city with as many low-income people as we have is definitely going to have this.

    First of all, the homeless...Nothing else needs to be said.

    People don't have money or means to buy new things (like furniture, appliances, etc) so they just have to cobble together miscellaneous crap to have a decent-looking place.

    Another thing, I know a lot of guys here that collect scrap metal, it's a big business here.

      If I was homeless..., furniture,appliances,etc. would not be on my list of priorities.
      The City of Hamilton has hostels, food lines, programs that take you off the street and find you a home, plus our tax dollars will pay the rent & food bills, It's called Hostels 2 Homes.
      So.., back to the subject, is it normal?

      PS. the scrap metal business sucks

    Its quite posible there homeless. They collect these things to use as insulation, shelter or maby just for the comfort of having something that now belongs to them. Some even collect things for recycleing change. Or maby they use it as currency. Tradeing things for other things until they find some one that will trade food for them. Like a mini hobo socity. The one that spits most is the dominant one...

      If a person needs food or shelter, there are a few places that offer both Good Shepperd, Salvation Army... even laundry services.
      If I'm the one that is abnormal, I'd better get out of Dodge....

      I guess it's normal for this City...
      I plan to leave this normal place and go back home , where people are abnormal and don't carry garbage & climb through dumpsters & spitting is a crime...
