Is it normal for people to be this surprised that i'm still a virgin?

When I was 16 years old, after people have asked me if I were a virgin all they would be shocked. When I was 17 years old it was even a bigger surprise. I'm now 21 years old and it's like they can't believe what I'm saying. They think I'm lying at first but I'm telling the truth.

So, I've come to a conclusion, if people are so surprised then is it because it's really that easy for a guy to lose their virginity? Like, this whole time it's not that hard because it seems to be the case to me and I am just now realizing if it's true or not.

Btw, right now i just want to lose it to my girlfriend instead of a girl I don't even know and that's it.

Don't rush it. Do it with someone(you said your gf) you know you truly care about, when you feel most comfortable.

I know exactly how you feel. I met this guy in my first semester who thought for sure that I wasn't a virgin. He thought I was gonna jump right in bed with him on the spot. I told him I wasn't a virgin and he didn't believe me. He was like, "Yeah right. You're lying." and I explained to him that I wasn't. He said he thought I wasn't because of how "good looking" he thought I was, and by much stuff I knew about it. Hahaha! I was like, "HELLO, health class in high school, the shows on t.v, friends, it's not hard to find out information on that stuff.". He gave the wide eyed, mouth dropped kinda look. Ahaha!

When I explained to him that I wanted to save it for someone I felt comfortable with and have been with for a while. He was kind of mad at first, but then he understood. People will understand when you explain it to them. Stick with what you believe in.

Many people regred losing their virginity to someone they've only been in a relationship with for a few months or so. I'm 18 and a virgin too. I would lose it to a girlfriend only, not some random person. I'd rather wait five years to have sex with the love of my life than to lose it within a year to some slutty bitch.

Are they surprised by your age or your character? Maybe you're a confident person who seems to get all the girls (so to speak) so it's a bit surprising?
I'm glad you're waiting for the right girl, you're doing it properly instead of throwing it away =) good for you

Yeah it is normal that people are surprised. Lots of people get drunk and have sex with some ugly drunk whore so they can say they lost thiers, or they will just lie and say they have. Good for you being comfortable with the fact and good luck with your girlfriend.

I'm around your age, and people are surprised that I'm still a virgin. Maybe I haven't done it yet because I find dicks revolting. (I'm female.)

People did the same thing to me in high school, but I added to the shock admiting I'd never kissed. Kids these days are in such a hurry to grow up they throw that purity away so easily. Why is it that sexual experiance is now a measure of someone's maturity?

same guy who wrote the story:

anyway im waiting becuz i hear from people that it's overrated in some way and if it is then why waste it just for the hell of it? either with a GF or not becuz if a girl uses me then i wouldnt care anymore and just do any girl becuz i cant get it back

not a good idea but this is something i cherish and not losing it to the wrong person. not waiting till marriage either becuz im not ready for that until another 10-20 years

I'm the same way but backwards. None of the guys or my friends I hang out with can believe I'm not a virgin. I'd mainly pin it to my bestfriend who's a big church Christian and the fact that I look 15 when I'm really 19.

It normal. Even if you were having sex, not enough sex is still considered weird.

I'm a 24 year old male and I've only had sex with 4 different women. Only kissed 4. People treat me like I'm still a virgin. I can't help that I have standards. I'm not uptight, I just don't value being a male-whore.

I think it's totally normal that they would be surprised. I would be too! By 16, you should NOT still be a virgin. Now, at 21, it's just ridiculous that you are!
