Is it normal for non-users to think that scoring narcotics is easy?
I've spoken to many people who have never used drugs and they all say that same thing: "Believe me, you can score any drug anywhere, anytime." They are so naive. When I was a heroin addict, there were many times when I just couldn't score, especially after the Taliban took over Afghanistan (late nineties) and outlawed the cultivation of opium. (Obviously, they have since changed this policy in a desperate attempt to raise revenues for their war chest. George Bush wasn't smart enough to realise that in 2000, the Taliban was the single best thing to happen to his war on drugs.) Such periods are called "droughts" and drug treatment programs like methadone and suboxone accrue huge waiting lists during these times. Incidentally, I was able to quit drugs by dobbing in every one of my heroin dealers to the cops. I ran out of dealers to buy from. Now even if I wanted to, I wouldn't know where to score. Unless you live in a city where there are known railway stations or street corners where dealers peddle to the public, if you want to score heavy drugs, you need to know someone. Dealers aren't stupid; they know the risk of dealing with an unknown. Most of them require introductions and they have them out few and far between.
