Is it normal for my teddy bear to be like my child?

I have had a very special teddy bear all my life. I love him more than words can possibly express. I have always been very protective of him and thus have not allowed anyone near him, let alone to touch him. However, I have discovered a real bond between him and my boyfriend, and so my bear has become like a son to us. He sleeps in bed with us, we have conversations with him, my boyfriend spends quality time with him and I have even caught him falling asleep while holding my bear in a gentle embrace. Sometimes I forget he is in fact an inanimate object because he seems so very human to us. Is this normal?

    I have a dol and I let no one touch her, not even my boyfriend. She has her own room and she doesn't like my bf because once he let her fall.
