It shouldn't hurt at all when you are wearing a tampon, you shoudn't even be able to notice tht you have it in you.. I think you arn't puttig it up far enough or maybe you should try using a smaller size tampon :)

what the hell i say whatever suits you! i find tampons uncomfortable alot! pads are so much easier and nicer feeling.with tampons your always wondering stuff and it makes me on edge atleast with pads you dont have to put something up your end!
    GO PADS!

tacotuesday's right, you need to (gently) push it in just a little more. I'd also recommend using applicator tampons. Tampax Pearl's the best I've tried (lol, I don't think I've ever endorsed a product on here, but they really do feel smoother to insert than others I've used).

If youre a virgin, it's very normal. I'm a virgin and it hurts me too. You shouldn't wear tampons if it hurts though, don't force yourself, it's never good.

It should not hurt and you shouldnt be able to notice it if you put it in correctly. If you attempt to use a tampon again, take your time and gently insert it and make sure you put it in far enough. If you still continue to feel pain while wearing tampons, use pads.

Nope it shouldnt hurt. Make sure you put it far enough in. If youre using an applicator, make sure it's up to the halfway point before pushing in the tampon. If its not in all the way, it'll hurt or feel uncomfortable.

I know this is weird and I'm probably going to be made fun of for it, but I still wear pads. However, according to people that I know where tampons, it shouldn't hurt. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but they said that after awhile you shouldn't even feel it.

I find them a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. If you don't mind using pads then who cares. If you hate pads though, then you might want to see a gynecologist - it's not a bad idea to get checked out anyway, even if you're not having sex or anything.

And I'm all for alternatives to tampons, but I'm one of those girls who find tampons uncomfortable (yeaaaah, also a virgin) and I found a divacup SO painful. Way more than tampons for sure. Obviously it comes down to the lady.

My one friend said she tried using a tampon when she was still a virgin and it hurt so she switched back to pads...once she had sex though tampons didnt hurt her anymore. I use pads because as pathetic as this sounds the thought of using tampons scares me lol.

Tampons may cause irritation or discomfort for several reasons: you internal body contours are not conducive to wearing the tampon, there are chemicals used to manufacture tampons which can cause diseases and discomfort (TSS), and improper insertion.

Tampons are not only a poor choice for women because they are disposable and cause horrific pollution, but because manufacturers use chemicals and procedures which irritate internal tissue and cause allergies and reactions.

Here are some better options from a human health perspective, an economical perspective, and will drastically reduce pollution. I have TheKeeper product, and have been using it for several years (and highly recommend it). Here's a listing reusable, natural product alternatives:
