Is it normal for my straight friend

My straight friend is doing some stuff that makes me question if he's straight or not he's has had a girlfriend before. Then the third night we sleep the same way and he nudges my foot with his and keeps contact for a Lil while than he kicks my foot away but I wake up later and he's rubbing his feet on mine and it feels good idk why lol but in the morning I know he's awake cause he was making my Dog mad than he turns to me and full on raps his legs around mine and stays that way til I moved my foot from his ankle to his knee and he quickly turns away. I have a lot more things to say but long story made short :p is there anything I could do I wanna take a step further with him. Oh and he's very protective of me. Someone give me an explanation
