Is it normal for my son to have feet so big?

My son is 15, 5'8-5'9 and wears a size 13-14 shoe. I find his feet to be extremely big especially for his height.

He's probably going to get taller. What are the father's height and feet like?

We were at the doctor recently and he said there's a chance he could reach a size 16-17 shoe by the time he is done growing

Men usually have big feet. It's probably just hormones…

Are his feet as big as the shoes for the character design in the Kingdom Hearts series? For instance, the main character, Sora, wears extremely big shoes… If his feet are that big, for his current height, I wouldn't consider them to be normal.

Can you compare the size of his feet something? It's hard to picture big feet.

    Wait, what nationality?

US shoes sizes are different from UK shoes sizes, which are different from EU shoe sizes, which are different from Japanese shoe sizes etc.

Whoops sorry. American sizes. Also that's another reason I feel my sons feet are so big is that compared to mine they look HUGE!!! I made him compare feet with me and my foot ended in the middle of his sole. Pretty crazy....

Your son does have larger than average feet for his height, but not freakishly large.

What would be considered freakishly large then?

If he has to start going to specialist shoe shops because his shoe size isn't stocked anywhere, then that suggests 'freakishly large' to me.

I'm 5'10" and have UK size 12 (US size 13) feet. That means I definitely have above average foot size for my height (average is around UK 10 / US 11) but still within the normal range, stocked in stores.

Of course, his feet might still go up a size or two, so he might move into that 'clown shoe' territory by the age of 18. Time will tell. I reckon he'll end up around 6ft once fully grown, with a foot size maybe US 15. Might be a challenge for shoe shopping then!
