Is it normal for my sister to say i'm her friend then say she hates me

My step sister and I are normally very close even though we've only known each for about year. She's constantly telling people I am her best friend and she doesn't know what she'd do without me. However on the rare occasion my opinion us different than hers she will say I don't care about her, I'm stupid, and that she hates me. I am 21 and she is 19. While she can be very mature, she can also be highly immature. She had a baby girl when she was 17, but due to the baby's father completely changing after her birth over the last 2 years she had to move back in with us. I love little Ashlynn with all my heart and I'm worried for both of them because a week ago she left the house after a huge family fight and refused to apologise to anyone. She's been staying with a friend of hers that is not exactly considered decent. My sister also has seizures which causes her to be bipolor, but refuses to get back on her medication. Is it time for me to give up on her? This is like the millionth time a situation like this has occured. Should I continue to try and help her even though she refuses to help herself?

    While reading your post I was going to say your sister sounds bipolar and you confirmed it.

    That's a shame for both her and her baby.

    You should continue to try to help her but don't let her ruin your own life.

    Just know that you're in for a real bumpy road with her manic swings.

    Over time they may get better or they may not. I think this mostly depends on her lifestyle choices.

    Oh, and whatever you do, don't have sex with her even though she'll probably want it.

    Everyone in your family will know about it and they'll all blame you because her excuse will be she's bipolar and couldn't help herself.
