Is it normal for my sex-drive to spike after going through recovery?

I just came out of a year in which I recovered from addiction to benzos, cutting and alcohol. All of a sudden, I feel these rushes of endorphin coursing through me and my sexual desire is far more open than ever! Frustratingly so, I might add, because I'm not sure I'm ready to be in any sort of sexual relationship with any body, at the moment. Is this normal? What are some of your experiences with this? How long does this tend to last? Is this how my normal drive is supposed to be in the first place or is this intensity simply a temporary after-effect of chemical recovery? Thanks.

    It might be because you are off those drugs so your sex drive returned.
    I take medication which has significantly reduced my sex drive but in a way I like that they do that because I can focus on more important things.

    I've got a small handful of thoughts, which may be weird or may be perfectly reasonable.

    For me, happiness tends to correlate with how frisky I am. If recovering from addiction makes you happier, maybe that makes you more up for sex.

    Sexuality is a liberating force, and being liberated from addiction could make you feel more in tune with your sexuality. You've got more control of your life, and having control of your life makes you less bashful about your body or which sex is a part.

    It could also be that feeling physically healthier and stronger makes you feel more confident and open about sex. I think it's also pretty common to feel increasingly sexual when you have more energy. It could be a purely biological thing.

    deffinantly normal, after i beat my additction to xannax and shooting oxys or dope i cant even desxribe how much better my sex drives been, yeah back then id still fuck girls but really not even be that into it it was kinda just to do something and no emetional connection either b.c we were both using.. but sincei been clean i actually have the desire to have sex and feel the emotional connection like when it gets really hot and you can feel the lust whichh i havnt felt in so long

    Drugs and alcohol fuck up sex drive...be happy yours rebounded so soon...sometimes it takes years to come back

      i dont know about alcohol because when I get faded I get horny and want to fuck and I've had some regretful hookups with chicks while drunk

        I hear ya...I was more talking about alcoholism....as in the whole progression of years and years of drinking....as far as being drunk.....even then alcohol can fuck up performance...it is just that it also lowers inhibitions....so that when you are sober you may think someone is fuckable but you look at others factors too..like personality, compability,consequences, etc..etc..but when drunk that all goes out the window and you just think about sex
