Is it normal for my period to stop for a day?

Ok this happens every single month when I get my period. Basically I will get it for 2-3 days(my periods are generally short)and then it will stop. I will go a whole day without needing a pad/tampon, so I always think it is over. But, then the following morning when I wake up, it comes back for the final day. Is this normal??????

    I'm not going to say for definite it's normal (because I really don't know, haven't really asked any other women about it) but that I get exactly the same thing.
