Is it normal for my mom you react this way?

Just recently this week, my mom has seen "cuts" on my wrist and no one else in the family really knows since i've always tried to hide them. I've been cutting for years now because of many problems and mostly, because I'm so unbelievably emotional. When my mom one day saw them for the second time, all she said was "you look nice with your cuts", but in Spanish and sarcastically. It made me feel really weird that she didn't do or say anything else. She doesn't even try helping me. For most of my life, she's been so over portective but it surpises me that she doesn't do squat in this situation.
Is my reaction weird to hers or does she not know how to deal with it?

    Perhaps now that you know cutting doesn't get you the reaction you hoped for.... perhaps now's the time to ask for help by actually asking.

    It doesn't sound like a normal response from a mother to me, but it might be possible that she's trying to use reverse psychology to encourage you to stop.

    Whatever the reasons, cutting yourself shouldn't really be the answer. Either try to find a friend you feel you can confide in or talk to a school/University councillor. It will help a lot more than suffering in silence, trust me. Although it's not uncommon to cut, it isn't healthy and doesn't bring about long-term solutions to problems. You deserve better than that.

    It prob just she doesnt know how to approach the subject , whether it be because she fears showing feelings/ emotions or she herself could of had a similar problem and it angers her to see you act the same.
