Is it normal for my metabolism to just die like that?

Is it normal to have a very high metabolism once throughout most of my life, yet due to circumstances of not having much food or money for about a year have it change from that of one of a competitive eater to that of a senior citizen (no offense to senior citizens)? I barely eat at all compared to how I use to (i.e. I would eat at buffets everyday just to satisfy my hunger), yet nowadays when I eat it's small, for example I could eat an apple or two for breakfast and be perfectly content all day probably till about 1:00 a.m. the next day. Am I normal? And yes, I lost a lot of weight (not on purpose). Also I use to be a bodybuilder, I have never been fat or overly engrossed in muscle for those who get the wrong idea when I say bodybuilder.

Yes, peoples metabolisms change over the course of their lives, typically being faster in the young and slower in the old. The human body is also very adaptive. As a result of you eating a much more restricted diet for a long period of time, your body has sensed that it cannot afford to operate such a fast metabolism (in effect starving) and so it has adjusted to make the most of the food you eat, thus lowering your metabolism. But I would certainly recommend eating more than an apple or two today, as you aren't getting enough protein/carbs/fats and micro-nutrients for your body to operate efficiently.

Loss of appetite can be a symptom of a HUGE variety of different health conditions.. It's probably worth going to see a doctor and getting a blood test.
