Is it normal for my heart to feel like its pounding to hard?

recently i notice sometimes i can feel my pulse in my hands. an after waking up from sleep i can even feel it in my eyes. i checked my blood pressure and its readings said my blood pressure falls under normal readings but my pulse rate is like constintley high at like 90-105 im unemployed have no insurance and i am freaking out. i stopped my only vice smoking weed. i quit cigs years ago and rarely ever drink. i believe i should obviously seek medical attention but i wanted to post for any helpful feedback. i feel like im to young for this sh*t.

Could be. Your heart has to work harder to get blood to all of you! I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just watch what you eat and get some exercise. If you want to check your blood pressure just go to a drug store or somewhere they have those machines. Most important, relax! However, if you start to get headaches, dizziness or blurred vision get help right away, even if you don't have insurance.

Good for you, glad to hear you're doing something about it! I've put on a little weight since I moved to New Jersey so I recently got an elliptical and am trying to watch what I eat. It's hard because I live with my boyfriend and he just loves food, lol. But who doesn't, right?

Diabetes is SERIOUS business, as you already know. The circulation problems are one thing but there are so many other consequences, too. Loss of vision, kidney damage, nerve damage, and all kinds of bad things.

You're right about sodium, too. Your body uses sodium for many many things and an imbalance of it can be very unhealthy. I have found that after a while I don't really like the taste of salty foods. It covers up all the other flavors. Plus, for me, if I eat something really salty I get excruciating headaches.

Anyways, good luck to you and keep it up!

Oh, and don't listen to people who tell you that sea salt is safer to use than table salt. Completely false. The only difference between the two is that sea salt contains some other trace elements and minerals while table salt has been processed to have them removed.

i think you are right. my heart is working to hard because im over wieght and i have to much sodium in my diet.i had an epiphany when my mother told me my grand father had severe diabetes and his feet amputated from bad circulation. wich scarred the living piss out of me because me feet are always earily cold from the inside out. ive been makin way positive changes. ive lost 15lbs i was 315lbs. and today i started a low sodioum diet and walks. i dont want to end up like my grand father dead at 54 from heart disease. but my research has indicated that my wieght and to much sodium in my diet messes up heart rythm and is messin up my circulation. im also stoke cuz i think i may finaly get some coverage. thanks for the positive feed back :)

The only thing I can figure is that smoking weed part is responsible. When you're high you can feel your heart beat throughout your whole body, so maybe if you smoke alot it carried over to your sober state? I dunno.

hmm in my personal beliefs marijuana has medical value. and i can legally smoke it. that being said i do think its complicating the issue. to much of anything is bad. i think through heredity my poor health choices and my overall lack of knowledge has brought me here. and to that i so no more. im so hungry for information. and im ready to live to the fullest and actually contribute to earth instead of laying down and dying. but marijuana lowers blood pressure. this can actually benefit me so long as my other decisions are good. that and i seriously cut way back. wich is also positive. im eatin less and being more productive go figure! and all i did was stop smoking every other hour and instead ive made healthy food or gone on walks. but in moderation i do looove lightin up. but yes a lifestyle change in that sense and all aspects is needed. and i really appreciate the fact that i can right this down and get positive eed back from someone showing a general interest. thank you. all of you.

Actually....marijuana raises your blood pressure and your heart rate by like 20-50%%, sometimes even double it.

Don't get me wrong, I've done my share of pot smoking, but I quit about two years ago because as much as I wanted to believe that it was fine and harmless, it most certainly wasn't. True it has medicinal value, but for that to be a valid argument, the benefits must outweigh the risks of smoking a substance containing tar and chemicals. I'm sure you've seen the inside of your glass bowls, right? And you've cleaned that several times, probably. Imagine what your lungs look like.

I have mild asthma that is under control without any regular medication but when I was smoking pot I had to be on three different daily medications for my asthma. (I know, I was an idiot.)

I also cared less about life in general, about school, being successful, seeing my family. I did however work my ass off when I was a pothead though, lol. Guess I had to pay for it somehow. Not to mention the munchies are never healthy. I ate some stuff when I was stoned that I wouldn't even dream of eating now.

I became really antisocial and just generally unsure of myself in social situations. I felt like I never had anything useful to contribute to a conversation, and I consider myself to be fairly intelligent and quick-witted, although a little socially awkward and shy.

Anyways, you sound like you've got the right idea. Nothing wrong with smoking now and then, but keep it in moderation ;)

Exactly! its super fun to be high and goofy buts thats what my life turned into so to speak. its been way better in moderation. i used to smoke in my room and always out of big ass bongs. now i just kick it and puf a couple hits of a j outside not even once a day. but i think i found the profound issue with my heart. i had way to much sodium in my diet, and i was constantly getting stressed out and worked up over small shit. i cut down to like no sodium. and am keeping my positive vibes up. i realized when i was bitching about something sooooo stupid the other day that my heart was actually pumping harder when i was frustrated. so im trying not to stress and just keep a happy go lucky attitude. and where did you find your info on how pot affects blood pressure? because everywhere ive searched says it raises the pulse rate and decreases blood pressure. but youd think that the faster the heart pumps the higher the blood pressure. anyway from what i read if you hearts beating to fast it isnt circulating blood properly therefore lowering blood pressure. but i would love a second opinion on that.

Well, think about it this way. Anytime your heart is pumping more blood, faster, your blood pressure is going to increase. So generally, when your heart rate rises, so does your blood pressure.

I think what you mean about marijuana is that it temporarily increases blood pressure while you're smoking and probably for a short time after, but then it can actually lower it, also temporarily, for the duration of your high. For instance, many people will smoke pot, experience the increased heart rate, then chill for a while and let their heart rate return to normal, stand up, and experience a drop in blood pressure. I'm pretty sure that's why sometimes when you smoke and then stand up after a while you sometimes get that spin.

I think there is speculation that marijuana can be used medicinally to treat high blood pressure, but that is completely different from smoking it. Medicinally, the THC is used in very specific doses and without the negative effects of smoking, like using vaporizers, and I think (I might be wrong) that they even have it in pill form now.

Anyways, the point is that unfortunately, there is currently no evidence that pot lowers your blood pressure in any kind of long-term way. But I agree with you that there are many uses for it, so hopefully in time it might lose that bad stigma it carries.

Thats probably a good rule of thumb but may not always be true in some exceptions. if your heart is beating to fast it may not being functioning properly. thus not circulating correctly and thus lowering blood pressure. but seriously i dont think that smokin is gonna ever cure high blood pressure in any way. but i will say that it reduces stress which does lower my blood pressure. and they do have pills. my friend has a tumor and he was on thc pills for his appetite. they are also making pain killers that in the same sense trigger the thc receptors in the brain without the side effects of smoking. and im savin up for a vape but its expensive for a nice one. i think vape is the safest way to smoke so ive been told.

Normal adult heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. Try taking your pulse rate when you're relaxed and feel calm, like before you fall asleep or when you wake up. I can sometimes feel my pulse in different parts of my body, too, and I'm fine. I'm sure you are too. Just relax, don't stress.
