Is it normal for my hair to be thinning at 19?

I'm only 19 and my hair is already thinning and is receding a little bit. Is it normal for this to be happening at my age? My dad is completely bald and started receding in his 20's.

I would look awful bald because I am a very thin guy... Is there any ways to stop this?

  • I'm sure that's normal, especially if it happened to your dad young too. It's all different for everyone. My little brother's friend is graying and he's 14.

Don't listen to the pity or the negativity. Accept yourself or who you are, and I like the suggestion of shaving your head. Make it look like choice. Yule Brynner had many women, and 4 wives, the last of which was 24 when he married her at the age of 63. You go boy.

Seems you got some bad genetics. I am sorry to hear this but maybe get a wig? That or try shaving it and maybe try and pull off the bald look. Since shaved heads in young men is considered hot to some women.

Dude, that is so sad you are going bald so early. I try to hang on to every hair strand as it makes you look younger if you have a full head of hair later in life. Maybe a breakthrough will come along, but really very little so far.

Patrick Stewart(he played Capt. Jean-luc Picard on star trek) lost his hair when he was 19.

I started thinning in high school. It's genetic.Best thing to do is to accept it and move on or it will eat you up. Sure, guys wanna look good and hair makes the guy. Learn to live with it or you'll always be bothered by it. Good luck. Rogaine makes your hair greasy and Propecia causes horrible sexual side effects.

If it's genetic then yes. Take me for example, at 18 my hairline started receading, I have a really low one so it may not go completely bald, but it still pisses me off.

Very normal, like the above comment..its genetic. I have a friend who is 32 & completely gray...unfortunitely you just have to accept it. Rogain is expensive, try it if works for you, but otherwise shave your head bald. OR youll look older than you are.

Yeah, it's genetic. I know a guy who is about 22 and the top of his head is completely bald.

Personally, if I ever get bald (which will happen eventually, my father is bald, so is my mother's father and brother,) I will just shave the whole thing.
