Is it normal for my girl best friend to cuddle with me like this?

so i was lying on the ground watching the stars with her and another of my girl friends (who i'm better friends with but never really hug/touch at all whatsoever) and we both start shivering because it was cold outside, so she lies right next to me completely next to my side. to me that was pretty normal, but then she started to lie her head on my shoulder for a while and the next thing i know she was completely lying on top of my chest with an arm around me. since i never did something like that with someone who was just a friend before, i did nothing but lie there awkwardly while she was all over me. is this normal for guys to do that with female friends, and can i reciprocate by putting my arm around her and stuff without it being too weird?
