Is it normal for my friend to think this way?

The other night I was chatting with a friend, and asked her if she's ever seen the show Bob's Burgers. She then tells me that she does not watch Fox and wants to boycott it because it's conservative. I was thinking "Really?!" I'm a conservative myself, but I don't watch Fox that much. I only watch the Animation Domination on sunday nights. Is this normal behavior for someone to refuse to watch shows on a channel because of political beliefs? With me, I don't care if a tv station is conservative or liberal. As long as it has shows that entertain me.

Watching a particular TV network is not the issue, but purchasing the products advertised on that network is the way of showing your support for their political affiliations.
So enjoy what you wish to watch, but choose what you buy by the amount you think the station represents your ideals. Fox is a very right wing network and nothing on the station news or talk programs is unbiased, as news in the US is supposed to be. They do not inform you of the news, they try to influence your opinions, which is NOT the American way.

To be fair, historically speaking, all news outlets operate that way to an extent. Some more so than others, for sure, but they're all pushing an agenda.

      Check this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_of_the_Spanish%E2%80%93American_War

The pretext for the Spanish-American war was pretty much just a phony newspaper article. This kinda stuff has been going on for centuries.

No argument from me on that, which is why I watch BC news. They have little to gain by putting bias on US news.

I suppose watching anything on Fox for her is, if even in a small way, supporting the expansion of the network. Like how buying shit food keeps the shit food production going and expanding.

You are normal for liking what you like. She is normal for refusing to watch something for her beliefs against the channel regardless of how ridiculous you or I think that might be. Maybe you could convince her to watch some clips of it online or something?

Liberals suck. They are a bunch of crying, whining babies who want the government to take care of every ill and social issue on the planet.

They need to wake the fuck up, grow the fuck up, and realize, there have been problems on this planet since it existed, and many of them WAY worse than what is out there today.

Are people persecuted, treated unfair, hell yes. But, you can't fix everything, and furthermore, who the hell pays for the government to intervene in the first place??? Tax payers!!! And, of those tax payers, who pays the largest percentage of their income for this? The middle and upper-middle class, that is who!

These programs they put in place have enormous amounts of graft and waste in them, and, of the people who benefit from them, a large percent are taking advantage of the system. It is turning this country into a "nanny state" where people can have as many children as they want, have no regard for how they are going to feed, cloth or care for those children, and, that breeds a whole society of more people who do the exact same thing. We have GENERATIONS of people on welfare.

The systems were never designed to do that. They were supposed to help someone who was "down and out" get back on there feet until they could find another job, or be retrained to learn a new line of work that was in demand. It wasn't designed to let people get shit free, and if they want more free shit, just pop out another kid!

You want to fix the system, you need to:

1.) Remove all illegal aliens from this country immediately

2.) Restructure the tax system so that EVERY dollar of profit earned is taxed. This goes for corporations as well. You earn money at a job, be it self employed or regular? You pay tax. You own an "investment" and it makes a profit? Tax. There can be a bottom end, where, if your income isn't high enough, you pay no taxes, that is only fair, but, you got people and corporations making millions of dollars who don't pay a single DIME of income tax. If we restructured this, the tax rate would be relatively low, we wouldn't need the IRS, and, we could have PLENTY of money to fund social welfare programs.

3.) Restructure welfare - Anyone who is bonafide disabled or otherwise not able to work, lifetime benefits that are substantial enough to live modestly. If you are able-bodied, set both a time limit for benefits as well as structure a training program that offers multiple opportunities to retrain for a new career or update what you have to modern standards. Drug-testing should be MANDATORY for receiving benefits, with the exception of course of prescribed drugs.

4.) Legalize pot. Make it illegal for anyone to produce or sell it without a license, but, allow people to smoke it at their leasure. Come up with a new test that has the ability to recognize if you are currently UNDER the influence of pot, just like they do with alcohol. This way, someone can work at a job that has safety requirements to be completely sober at work, and still go out on the weekends and have fun.

I realize #4 is tricky. I am willing to bet money that they already have this test, they just don't want to tell anyone they do for fear of what might happen.
