Is it normal for my friend to text me everyday?

I met this girl in my french class and we became friends. Now ever since I met her, she is constantly texting me everyday saying "Hey, what's up" Or "what are you doing" If I reply, I will say "nothin much" Then another 30 minutes (no exaggeration)she will repeat the same thing. If I don't reply she will send 5 messages asking "are you still there?" She even does this when she's with a group of friends because she will text me about how she is hanging out with them.

Frequently, on a school night, she will text me at 12:00am about how she is obsessed with Justin Bieber. I find out in the morning because my phone says the time someone texts me. Then in the morning she will ask why I didn't reply. I simply say that I was sleeping, because I was.

I can't turn my phone off at night because my mom is at work and I need to keep it on in case she calls. Can I please have advice on how to handle this?

    Maybe she just gets attatched to people easily. If you're busy while she's texting you, just tell her, and hopefully she'll understand. But if she gets too out of hand, to the point where she's text-stalking you, find a way to block her. I had a similar problem recently, only I don't know the person who keeps texting me, or how he even got my digits. But I have no idea how to block a number on my phone. :/ Anyway good luck to you...

    Just tell ur friend to cool it. Tell her you can't always talk and to give you ur space.this exact same thing happened to my sis ,this girl was texting her every day.in the end turns out the girl was bi-sexual and liked her. So look for signs she might be bi.

      Yeah, well she does stare at me sometimes in french. So I will be watching for signs lol!

    This girl's got a phone recently or a new one and is a textaholic. She's a typical bloody female - I hope you can imagine how poor bfs feel when they get a gf like this!

    Tell ther you can't send texts anymore as you're phone is playing up - she'll get bored not being able to look at her phone, to show her friends how popular she is. Hopefully she' has some other fools who can respond to her. Boring!!!

      You are soo right! Maybe that's why, because she has a new android and yeah... I will say that I don't have unlimited texting anymore. Hopefully she will listen. I even send her one word answers and she doesn't get it LOL. So the limited texting thing will probably work.
