Is it normal for my friend to do this?

So I've been getting really pissed off at my friend lately. For some reason, he will just slap someone in the face or hit them for no reason while in the middle of a conversation. He's done this to some of my other friends, my girlfriend, and now me. A few days ago, he punched me in the stomach, and I hit him back hard and ended up busting his nose. Now, he's saying that he didn't do anything wrong and that hitting your friends is normal. It just isn't though.

I'm thinking of bashing him up a lot harder next time he does this to me, maybe throw a few hard kicks to the head in there as well...should I do this, or just stop being his friend? I kind of want to do the first option...

    Whether it's okay or not is irrelevant. You asked him to respect your boundaries and he's choosing not to. Cut the friendship off. There's no use in having disrespectful friends in your life.

    None of this is normal unless you regard random violence as normal.

    Do you know what the word "friend" actually means? This isn't how friends behave towards each other

    He could be having problems elsewhere and just acting out, if it was me I'd confront him about the problem and be like why bro? Could maybe help him out even?
