Is it normal for my father to take most of my paycheck?

I recently got a job and my father has been taking most, if not all, of my pay check. I roughly make about 500 a pay period, 1000 a month. He used to give me 30 a pay check, then he bumped it to 100 after I talking to him about it, then he changed it where I pay him 375 a pay check to pay for my keep. So, is it normal for my dad to do this to me?

If you can live on 1000 a month then move out. If you can't, then you can't really complain.

Even so they would still have to save up enough to move and if the dad taking the whole check they are going to be stuck forever.

I guess the free ride is over, huh?
What's so wrong about chipping in for your keep?
You sound like a spoiled brat to me.

What is the rent there? Ask to see all the utility bills. Basically what I find. If living in an apartment it averages about $300-$400.00 per room per month. A house. $400.00 to $500.00 per room per month. Depending where you live and not including the hicks or trailer parks. I have been renting for years. Although living with your father may not be what a grown mam needs. You want to have the life of freedom and the right to choose and make your own way. Come and go as you please. Get a place with a room mate. My suggestion to you. Rent out a place and then run an ad. You will then know the meaning of responsibility. Credit Checks and Back Grounds are must! Or you will find out the hard way why people do them. You should have a checking and writing checks by now! Anywhere you rent/ lease/ buy. The paper trial is a must! Stop handing him your checks and be a grown up about it. Ask to see what you are paying for. If you have to pay this to a parent. Move out and start finding out the price of freedom. It is worth every scent!

Better to get you prepared for when you move out.

Try renting a house the same size as what you are living in at the moment and see if you even have chump change left.
